Tiebreakers

Tiebreakers are beings who have been designated to 'assist' in a human's decision to commit or not commit a sin. While they cannot directly influence the human's surroundings or actions, they can provide guidance in the form of ideas and suggestions.

While most cases are usually resolved quickly, in binary favor of either Heaven or Hell, negotiations can take extended periods of time or fail altogether. Notable cases include [suicide woman from 1], [time that two tiebreakers got stuck with someone for like a month or something], and The Second Inciting.

The First Inciting

While no official records remain containing specific details of the First Inciting, there are many rumors and ideas as to what caused the first large-scale clash between Heaven and Hell, including:

• The assassination of a high-ranking angel, committed by a demon
• The falling of an angel, caused by a demon
• Disagreements over involvement in human conflict

Despite the lack of official records, there are some similarities between different accounts of the Inciting.

• The involvement of both an angel and a demon; if anything can truly be taken as fact about the First Inciting, it's that a single angel and a single demon were at the center of it.
• A betrayal; usually between the angel and demon, but not always.
• A death; the war following the First Inciiting is most often cited as having been started with the death of an angel — though, even then, there are some who believe it was the death of a demon that triggered later events.

The Second Inciting

With the recent discovery of a relationship between the angel Asteriel and the demon Goslin, some consider the subsequent rise in tension to be a second Inciting.
